Furnishing Your Pool Area

Beyond a Few Plastic Chairs near Your Pool

Pool furnishingWe are blessed. Those of us that live in southern Florida. We have great weather nearly year round and can really blend indoor-outdoor living. If we are lucky enough to have a backyard pool, we can create an outdoor oasis. That said, a poolside oasis doesn’t need to be furnished with plastic furniture.

Sure, plastic is budget friendly and relatively water proof. But, you can take your interior decorating skills that you use to furnish your living room and apply it to creating a living room outdoors. Pool area furniture is available in a variety of materials and styles. Cedar and cypress remain a popular choice because those woods are strong, durable, and look great for years with minimal care. There is also classic materials like rattan. And, of course, there are higher end plastics that bring a modern flair outside.

Great for Shade

Also, you can create cozy seating areas under shade. Let’s face it, the Florida sun can be intense and proper skin health care should be taken to avoid burning. There are now a number of options from constructed pergolas and awnings to creative or funky umbrellas and shade cloths.

If you want something a bit more permanent and stable, we recommend you go all out and have an awning or pergola constructed near your pool. If you go the umbrella route for shade, you’ll need to monitor the weather and bring the umbrellas in to protect them from storms and wind. They also don’t last much longer than a year or two with constant use.

Fabrics

The latest technology has been used to create a range of colored fabrics, woven designs, and innovative textures. With their high durability, weather resistance, and functionality, they will do a great job of embellishing your poolside for years to come. There are plenty of styles available to match all kinds of décor and landscaping.

Lighting

Lighting plays a huge role in any kind of living area. So your poolside furnishing shopping list should include items such as outdoor lamps, path lighting, lanterns, spotlights, uplights, and downlights. When positioned in the right spots, these will transform the entire atmosphere of your pool area.

Recreate the Indoors With a Fresh Twist

Even with just a few attractive, well-placed pool area furnishings, you can effectively bring the indoors out. It doesn’t need to cost you a ton of money or be a great deal of hassle. Nowadays, anything you can buy for the indoors, you can find for the outdoors. From rugs and cushions, to lamps and draperies, you can add just about anything to your outdoor living area.

 So many furnishing options …

While we specialize in pool construction, we do like to consult with our clients on how they see their outdoor spaces. We ask questions like: What style are you drawn to? How do you want your outdoor living space to integrate with your pool? How big do you want your deck to be? Do you want an outdoor kitchen and eating space? And more.

This way we can make sure the pool and deck match your vision and make your outdoor living desires a realty.
